Allyssa Jones
Alyssa Jones has multiple-musicality syndrome. Her debut CD, "Daughter's Dance," reveals traces of her family's eclectic record collection, which included everything from Carole King and James Taylor to The Temptations and Earth, Wind & Fire. Although trained in classical piano and voice, it was her later introduction to jazz that would inspire her core sound and artistic aesthetic. Add to all of this her passion for neo-soul and Prince, and it becomes clear why she insists on blending the styles that speak to her most.

My name is Nadhiyr Velez, Ode Lade. I play shekere and other instruments in both secular and religious settings, and teach both playing and construction. If you are interested in learning to play or craft a shekere and live in or near the Hudson Valley region of NY, feel free to contact me about classes. Beginners and children are welcome. I also am available for school presentations and performances. I specialize in teaching Afro-Latino history through music, and have done many performances in schools, day-camps, and other community venues for Kwanza, Black History Month, and Latino history celebrations.
