Vol. 1, Section 1, pp.1-44 ; includes the following Counties/Cities: Atlanta, Augusta, Baldwin, Bartow, Bibb and Bryan. Some of the names may appear more than once, because they were included in several documents, including the slave births. They list the slave women and their children, and then the childrens, children. The slaves owned by the State of Georgia were in more than one list. Names mentioned in the Freedmen & Contractors may also appear more than once, they are listed in Burke County; Collection: Bark Camp Baptist Church; under Slave and Slave Owners, and as Freedmen, under the county of record for that date.

Vol. 11, section 3, pp. 237-246 Freedmen and Contractors includes the following Counties/Cities: Atlanta, Burke, Chattahoochee, Coweta, Early, Fayette, Fulton, Glynn, Henry, Macon, Madison, McDonough, Morgan, Newnan, Oglethorpe, Telfair and Thomas.

These were work contract and apprenticeship records, with information on emancipated slaves for the period 1865- 1867. Contractor Index: List person who signed agreements with emancipated slaves in the form of work contracts or apprenticeship papers. In many instances, contractors were former slave owners.
